Default to the AREX train if you're light on luggage
The Airport Railroad (AREX) runs from a station under the terminal. The Express is non-stop to Seoul Station in about 43 minutes; the all-stop commuter train is far cheaper and also stops at Hongik Univ. (Hongdae) and Gongdeok. Trains skip all the traffic — the most predictable option.

Take the limousine bus if your hotel is on a bus route
Airport limousine buses drop close to major hotel clusters, so you avoid a subway transfer with big suitcases. Buy tickets at clearly-marked desks in the arrivals hall; they're traffic-dependent but comfortable.

Split a taxi if you're a group of three or four
A metered taxi to central Seoul is roughly ₩70,000–90,000 including tolls. Per person that beats the limousine bus once you're three or four people with luggage. Use the official taxi stand, not anyone who approaches you inside.
